We are recruiting for an experienced Truck Driver to join our team full-time based out of our Canning Vale Distribution Centre.
This position is far more than just your average Truck Driver position! We are looking for someone with great people skills who has the “street smarts” to deal with at conflicts which may arise on occasions whilst on the road.
Reporting to the Manager DC Operations, our Truck Drivers are responsible for collecting donated goods, such as furniture from households and the delivery of household goods in accordance with Emergency Relief requests. They also service our shops and donation bins.
Generally, the Depot services operates in the greater Perth metropolitan area although, there are also smaller levels of services provided to regional areas across WA. For more information on our services please click here.
About the Role:
Although you will be part of a team of drivers, you will predominantly be working on your own during your daily run; you will be responsible for loading/unloading your assigned truck at the distribution centre and taking ownership of your assigned truck, ensuring it is well kept and maintained.
Along your travels will meet various members of the local WA community and become a familiar face to our retail shop staff. You put Safety first and foremost.
- Permanent full-time position – 38 hours / week (Monday – Friday; possible weekend work during busy periods)
- Plans daily runs based on the collection schedule for donated goods
- Collection of donated furniture from homes within the WA Community
- Follows WHS policies and procedures at all times
Essential Selection Criteria:
- Medium Rigid (MR) Licence and Forklift ticket
- Excellent communication and people skills with the ability to manage and resolve conflict
- Experience within logistics and/or furniture removal
- Good physical fitness
- Excellent knowledge of Perth suburban area
- An understanding of the maintenance requirements of vehicles
- Ability to safely pack goods in truck, follow correct tie down procedure and work within WHS guidelines
- Ability to work as a team player and contribute to team outcomes whilst ensuring deadlines are being met at all times
- Willingness to show flexibility in work hours and duties as required although no night shifts required.
